i think tha the packet is a great idea and i think it would really help to get more people involved. some ideas that i have may not be good ones and some im finding out already exsis but here is everythig that i wrote down.
*having a club calender made
*havinga birthday dinner for our members; when it comes time to someone birthday we all go out to the birthday girl or boys place of their choice and everyone pitches in to pay for the birthday persons dinner
*a trip to the ellen show i was thinking if we make a video and send it to ellens people saying that we want to see the show just see what type of response we get.
* club tshirts which is already in affect
* game night i have a ton of baord games and if we have soe type of a game night and have flyers and sell food more people will join and we can make money off it.
so tell me what you thik and i know some of them are crazy and probly wont work these are just ideas that came in my head.
sabrina…
i think that you have some excellent ideas! i think it’s just a matter of implementing them and getting others enthusiastic about following through with some of your suggestions! creating a calender and keeping it updated is a great way to VISUALLY see what’s coming up– unsure if it should be a digital file or a printed file that we can all receive on a monthly OR quarterly basis… but it would be a great way to keep everyone updated on coming events and assist us in keeping everything/everyone organized. b*day dinner is also a cute idea and again i think that should be overseen by an officer or a reliable member that we can depend on staying on top of those things. in addition, i really like your idea of having a “game night” as means to raise funds… that’s something different and unique to do as a fundraiser, we may need to flesh that idea out a bit more but nonetheless it’s great because it goes beyond the norm of selling items or baked goods to raise funds, but rather it’s an event that we can all build a “buzz” and “hype” around to promote it!

i digg the idea about designating people to oversee upcoming events we got going! myself, am open to oversee EITHER the cook book project, the art show 2010 or equality week. furthermore, i do i have an idea that could create a more “establish” feel to our club. i think we should put together what would be a mini-welcome packet that includes: our mission statement (do we have one??), a contact sheet for the new member to fill out and a list of goals/events we have projected for that quarter. it doesn’t have to be anything too involved but just a little folder that will lend in giving our club more credibility and assist in making new members feel welcomed, up-to-date and give them a sense of belonging right off the bat! this way we can retain more members if they feel like they belong with us right away. i am willing to see this “committee” as well. your thoughts??
